4/03/2013 : Simon Cowell’s Global Talent search looking for Irish food fanatics. Simon Cowell’s Global YouTube talent search, The You Generation, is searching for the next fabulous foodie. DIT student, Megan O’Reilly, the first Irish contestant in the You Generation, is urging all of Ireland’s budding culinary geniuses to visit http://www.youtube.com/user/yougenerationtv and submit their entry. The You Generation offers people the chance to reach a world stage no matter what their talent is, from fashion styling to singing or even TV presenting. The You Generation unique to other talent searches is that this event lives entirely on YouTube reflecting the shift in how we access content in our daily lives. The You Generation will span 52 weeks, split up into two-week rounds. The You Generation is supported in Ireland by UPC. DUBLIN : 25/03/2013 : IKA CHIEF CALLS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE BEFORE CONSENT DEBATE TO INCREASE DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION. The swings of Irish donation figures from year to year, was highlighted by the Irish Kidney Association at the national launch of Organ Donor Awareness Week attended by the Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly, T.D. at the Mansion House in Dublin today. 2010 was almost a record low for organ donation, 2011 was a record high and 2012, at 17% less than the previous year, was below average. The Irish Kidney Association Chief Executive, Mr. Mark Murphy said, “I don’t know of another European country, even of a similar size population, with such wide swings in deceased donor activity”.
